Best Free Photo Editor for You

Spread the love

Instead of having to download photo editing software on your PC like Photoshop or GIMP, if you are the person who prefers to edit your photos online inside your favourite web browser, read till the end.

In this article, we would be including the top 5 photo editors which you can use for free and online as well. It works especially when you don’t have a very high-end computer but have a pretty good internet connection.

In the end, we will list some more websites which are worth mentioning but couldn’t make it to the top 5 list.

#5 Befunky

Befunky is great for those who have limited experience editing photos.

It includes the basic tools to easily boost your image quality. In addition to their photo editor, Befunky also has a collage maker and a designer tool set for graphic designers.

When you launch Befunky, all the tools are located along the left. While some are included with their free version, those marked with the star will require you to upgrade to their paid premium version.

In an edit essential, color is a great place to start for enhancing your image. There are other tool sets that you can play around with including the ability to add text.

When you are done editing the photos, you can save the finished product in your computer, Befunky or Google Drive along with the ability to export your image directly to the social media like FB, Twitter or Pinterest.

If you want to avail those features locked behind the paywall, Befunky will cost you $6.99 a month or $4.99 a month if billed annually.

#4 Fotor

Just like any other websites in this article, Fotor photo editor has a separate collage and design maker. It offers a simple easy to use interface with the basic editing features included along with some that are more advanced.

While Fotor does offer more pics than BeFunky, some are only available to pro users. They will be marked with a diamond icon. Else using a pro feature will put a watermark in the centre of the image.

The ability to use a dark theme while editing is a cool feature. For choosing the dark theme, go to Settings → Darker. That will make your interface easier on your eyes.

If you want to upgrade to Fotor Pro to unlock all of its features, the pricing is $39.99 per year or $8.99 per month.

#3 Pixlr X

In the previous years, it would have been in number one or two on this list. But going through a transformation in 2019.

There are fully featured Pixlr Editor and the easier to use Pixlr Express Web apps which both run using Adobe Flash. With Flash newly being replaced by Html5 standard, Pixlr had decided to discontinue these apps when Flash is no longer supported. Pixlr X replaces Pixlr Express while Pixlr Editor gets replaced with Pixlr Pro which costs $5 per month.

In terms of useful features for people wanting a no-fuss photo editor, Pixlr X is the best I have used.

All the necessary and available edit tools are:-

  • Resize
  • Crop
  • Adjustment of brightness and colour
  • Filters and effects
  • Drawing tool
  • Text tool

You can also insert other images into your photos.

#2 IPiccy

In the runners up spot is IPiccy which also has its special collage and design maker. It is completely free with all the other advanced features included with no extra cost.

With IPiccy, you will find all the basic and advanced tools that you would ever need. The other photo effects include photo effects, retouch; You can work with layers to add texts, stickers and create shapes.

If the interface is too bright for you, you can toggle between light and dark theme.

The only downside of iPiccy is its saving options. It is limited to only jpeg and png. Other than that, it is a fantastic photo editor.

#1 Photopea

In the top spot coming in at number one is Photopea. With a high learning curve, it offers many of the same features as Photoshop and GIMP making it a great free online alternative to those programs.

All of the features are included for free. You will find the primary tools along the left and the layers panel over the right. And some secondary options located in the menu bar.

If you want to change the look of the interface, they provide you with 5 different themes. You can import PSD, CXF, Sketch and other image file types before you start editing.

When you are finished with your project, your images can be exported in a dozen formats including JPG, PNG, SVG and many others.

Like I said before, Photopea has a high learning curve but is capable of doing more than any other photo editor mention in this article after you learn how to use it.

Conclusion

As promised earlier I will list some more websites that are worth mentioning but couldn’t make it to the top 5 list.
