Best Free Stock Photo Sites

LIFE OF PIX

Life of Pix created by the Lee Roy Advertising agency in Montreal is a great resource. Some of the most stunning high-resolution photos that you will ever find.

With so many unique images, Life of Pix should be near the top of your list when gathering new photos. They have another site called “ Life of Vids “ which is worth checking out if you need free stock videos, clips, or loops.

The content provided on both sides is release under Creative Common CC0 and therefore, has no copyright restrictions.

BURST

Burst is a resource from Shopify to help entrepreneurs make better marketing materials for their businesses.

Just like all the websites mentioned in this article, all of their non copyrighted images are royalty-free and can be used for any marketing campaign that you can think of.

They provide you with the choice of providing both high and low-resolution images depending on whether you are working on a graphic design project or just adding images to a website.

Some of the photos on Burst are licensed under Creative Commons CC0. While the others are protected with their own photo license.

FREE RANGE

Freerange is another site that should be at the top of your list when gathering images for your project.

They have thousands of images that are created from in-house photographers along with images from outside contributors that you won’t find anywhere else.

When you have an image that you like, you will have a few download options to choose from and you can send your image to Pixlr directly for photo editing.

Some of these images under free-range are under equal license along with many that fall under Creative Commons CC0.

KABOOM PICS

This may be the least well-known website in this article. It offers the cleanest interface of any stock photo that I have seen.

What impresses me about this site is their search engine which includes a color picker to find the perfect photo for your project in addition to choosing the size for your download.

A color palette is also present with the corresponding hex colors from that image.

All pictures under Kaboom Pics fall under their own license.

FLICKR

Most people don’t think Flickr of as a stock image site but it does have an extensive library of more than 3 million images in the commons section that you can use for free if you know where to look.

Go to the commons section and search for the required images. Download it from there. There are several participating institutions. So I recommend reading over the rights statements before proceeding.

PIXABAY

Pixabay is one of the sites that I have used over several years for various projects. With one of the biggest collection of high-quality free stock photos, you are likely to find what you are looking for.

They are also a great resource for HD and 4K videos which come handy if you are looking for a b-roll for your YouTube video.

They have licenses from Creative Commons CC0.

Conclusion

Almost all of them have high-quality stock images. There are some factors that you should keep in mind while choosing the image and before downloading the image.

You should always read the terms and conditions before proceeding. Some of them require giving attributes while using them in the commercial field.

Keeping that in mind, choose wisely and let us know in the comments which website gives you the most vibrant images!
